ChatGPT를 사람과 비유하면 외부와 단절되어 열심히 공부한 천재를 떠올리게 됩니다.
정말 똑똑하고 아는 게 많은 친구지만 사회와 단절되어 최신 정보를 획득하지 못하게 만들어 놓아서 2년 전에 지식에 갇혀 있는 천재라는 생각이 듭니다.
그렇기 때문에 현재 대한민국 대통령이 누구냐고 물어보면 2021년 9월까지 정보를 기준으로 pre-trained 되어 있기 때문에 그 당시 대통령인 문재인이라고 대답을 할 수밖에는 없습니다.
많은 사람이 아쉬워하는 부분이 2년 전까지 정보만을 가지고 있어 시사 문제나 최신 정보를 물어보면 ChatGT가 제대로 답을 못하는 것이라고 생각합니다.
왜 그럴까요?
이유가 있습니다.
만약 구글의 버드 같이 인터넷을 연결하여 공부를 할 수 있게 한다면 최신 정보를 습득하는 기능이 획기적으로 발전하겠지만, 인터넷에 있는 정보 중 많은 것들이 신뢰할 수 없고, 사람들에게 유해한 정보를 퍼뜨리는 경우가 많습니다.
우리나라 국회에서는 카더라 아니면 말고 시계, 잘못된 정보나 자극적인 발언으로 국민들을 선동하고 거짓말을 하고도 이것은 잔기술이라고 주장하는 정말 이해하기 힘든 행태가 자행되는 모습을 받아들이는 사람도 있지만, 정상적인 세계인의 시각에서 보면 이런 식으로 사람에게 유해한 정보를 제공한다면 엄청난 비난에서 벗어나기 힘들고 감당하기 힘든 책임을 져야 하기 때문에, ChatGPT가 이러한 나쁜 정보에서 보호받고, 이런 사람들에게 사기, 범죄, 비도덕적인 행위를 배우고 사용자에게 제공하는 것을 방지하기 위해서 2021년 9월까지의 정제된 정보로 공부를 하도록 했기 때문입니다.
사용자의 입장에서는 실시간 정보를 알 수 없으니, 활용하는 용도의 한계가 있을 수밖에 없습니다.
그런데 이렇게 외부와 단절된 천재에게 드디어 문이 열렸습니다.
어제 오픈 에어에서 ChatGPT 플러그인 API를 발표했습니다.
아직 베타도 아닌 알파 버전의 아주 초기 단계의 플러그인 API는, 간단히 말해, 닫혀있던 ChatGPT가 인터넷에서 신뢰할 만한 서비스 업체로부터 API를 제공받아 실시간 정보를 얻을 수 있는 문을 열어준 것입니다.
XPD는 현재 Cut, Kayak, Klarna, Miller, OpenTable 등 총 12개의 서비스와 파트너로 개발을 위한 알파 버전 테스트를 진행 중이며, 다른 기업과 사용자들에게도 플러그인 API를 개방하여 화이트리스트에 등록하고 있습니다.
이 플러그인 API를 사용하면 무엇이 가능할까요?

I think of a genius who is really smart and knows a lot, but is stuck with knowledge from two years ago because he is cut off from society and doesn't get the latest information.

I think the frustrating part for many people is that ChatGPT only have information up to two years ago, so when you ask them about current events or the latest information, they can't answer correctly.
Why is that?

As a user, you can't know the real-time information, so there's only so much you can do with it.

It will be able to provide current sports scores, stock information, and the latest news, and it will be able to analyze data from companies and other information on the internet in real time.
It will also be able to act as a true personal assistant, organizing travel itineraries, suggesting the best choices and even making reservations using real-time information from hotels and airlines.
It can even order your 4 favorite things or order food for you, so the idea of having GPT do the work for you instead of a human is pretty awesome.
Furthermore, I think it's great that if we continue to move forward with the beta and beyond, and if a lot of companies join as service providers, we can start to see the expansion of AI from just processing information under a computer to real life.

Artificial intelligence that we could only imagine is now in our lives, and we can use it.
I'm concerned about the negative impacts, such as social problems and fraud, but I also have faith that there are developers and a community of like-minded people who are watching and being careful.
This is great news.
In the future, when a politician makes a ridiculous statement in Parliament, like the Cheongdamdong bar story, an A.I. like ChatGPT will have the intelligence and analytics to immediately recognize that this is obvious fake news and harmful propaganda.
Then we might have a socialized best friend to help us out, instead of a lone genius.
As a bonus, my usual desktop jumps four things: a web browser, Mac GPT, Amazon Music, and iMessage.
The web browser can be swapped out for a word processor or other program as needed.
There's also Mac Whisper, a program created by the developers of Mac GPT.
This is another program that uses the open API Whisper, and it transcribes sound files into text.
It took me 23 seconds to transcribe a 20-minute speech into text.
That's pretty handy.
It also transcribes YouTube videos.
However, for this feature, you need to purchase the pro version, which costs 16 euros.
I tested it with audio files and it was over 98% accurate for English, but significantly less accurate for Korean.
I thought you might find this useful depending on what you do.
I'm really excited about yesterday's plugin API news, and I'm staying up at night thinking about how to utilize it, RoboCop is coming out, what will people who have secretarial jobs do now, or can they work more effectively with ChatGPT, will scammers have no place, what kind of world will it change, and so on.
